Banco Terra opens a branch in Chimoio

On 31st March 2010, the last Wednesday of the month, the city of Chimoio in Manica province hosted the opening of a branch of Banco Terra. The ceremony was witnessed by the members of the provincial Government, representatives of the Entrepreneurs Association of Manica and the civil society. The Ambassador of Norway, Tore Bruvik Westberg, was also present in the ceremony.

The branch now open is an asset for the city dwellers of Chimoio, in particular, and for Manica province, in general, once that they will now have a customer focused bank committed to exploring the potential of the province.

Considering that Manica province is rich in fertile land and has a cool climate and it is conductive to the cultivation of particular crops such as citrus fruit, which once were massively produced in the region, this branch is taken as an excellent partner for all entrepreneurs that want to invest in agri-business in the province.

Also, as agri-business is not only limited to agricultural production, the branch may be a great ally for entrepreneurs who want to launch in poultry and cattle farming and promote the embryo production of dairy products in the region. Along the same vein, this branch is shown as a funding source for entrepreneurs who want to invest in fruit processing, since there is an abundant production of fruit varieties in the region.

Apart from the agri-business, the branch in Chimoio will be interested in financing public employees in the purchase of miscellaneous goods, particularly bicycles and motorbikes, as part of the project of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, in partnership with Banco Terra, which aims to promote their use as alternative means of transportation.
