Banco Terra is a Mozambican bank that will provide financial services to the rural and peri-urban population of Mozambique in a viable and commercial way. The largest part of the population of Mozambique does not enjoy the benefits of credit, savings or payments. We share in the believe that access to basic financial services is a primary driver behind sustainable development.
Rural banking is neither easy nor inexpensive. We will, over the years, increase our rural footprint and attempt to bring transaction costs down through the introduction of technology. Another way of increasing rural coverage is through supporting and financing alternative finance providers. We work actively with Micro Finance Institutions in strengthening their business model and making them grow.
The primary focus of Banco Terra is on Agri-finance, and we have put the Food- & Agri Value Chain central in our strategic positioning. This means that we do not only support farmers, but also finance input suppliers, millers, processors, traders and exporters.
Our stated intention is to contribute to the country’s mission of one day becoming a net exporter of Food. Key to success is combining the global expertise of Rabobank, with the local presence of professional extension providers and relevant government institutions.
Last but not least, Banco Terra serves Small and Medium Enterprises outside the Food- & Agri sector, and offers a full range of retail services to the general public. We welcome prospective clients from all walks of life with transparent rates and honest service.
